My mood changes often align closely with my reproductive cycle of menses, pms, and ovulation. I have never been consistent with keeping track of either the cycle or the moods, but I recently have come across something that's looking promising for me.
It's an app called Clue, and so far, I really like it. It's been simple to use and completely intuitive. Right away the predictions were pretty close-to-accurate and so helpful.
My mood changes (bipolar) often align closely with my reproductive cycle of menses, pms, and ovulation.
I've tried a couple other apps in the past for period tracking, but each had some flaw that made me hate it. A couple prominent ones had obnoxious designs -- pink flowers and such. One had too many options in a list of items you could track. And several -- probably most -- I disliked because of the way sex was handled -- with flirty red lips or contraceptive reminders or other things I neither wanted nor needed in an app. Clue serves its purpose without the extras that can launch me down an off road.
I don't know as yet how much my hormonal changes affect my mood, but I know that the two cycles, menstrual and mood, often closely resemble each other. Knowing when I may begin ovulation, for instance, can alert me to a coming period of hypomania. I can then, theoretically, be better prepared for the high.
I'm still working on it. This is my fourth month tracking with Clue; I think it's a keeper.
